Switch mac windows3/28/2023 ![]() ![]() Prepare yourself for learning new shortcuts and deal with the fact that there are shortcuts that just don’t exist in Mac OS that you use everyday (for ex. I used a macbook in early 2000s, have been on windows since 2014 and just moved back to Mac OS last week with the new 14” MBP. Then you can drag the disk image to Trash since you don't need it anymore. MacOS copies things over, and boom, your program is installed. You click and drag it into your Applications folder (which the disk image usually provides a shortcut to, just to make things easier). ![]() Then inside that image is a file (which is sort of a folder too, but don't worry about that) that you can run straight from there, but you don't want to do that. Normally if you want to install a new program, the file you download is basically a small disk image that gets mounted sort of like a thumb drive. ![]() The other big thing is installing programs. The way I conceive it mentally, the program is running up top (and/or just in the ether), and it has one or more windows. But if you close a window, even if it's the only window that program has, the program can still be running. Obviously a program's menu bar remains at the top of the screen, in the menu bar, rather than at the top of the active window. There were two big things that I had to adjust to when I switched. ![]()
